GLASSBORO, N.J. – Rowan Chi Alpha, a Christian fellowship on Rowan University’s campus, hosted an event called Mug Shots.

The event is for incoming freshmen to get to know the fellowship by providing them free mugs for the students to decorate and also take actual pictures in the style of a mug shot holding up a plate with positive expressions and phrases on the plate.

Campus Missions Associate Ian Buchanan says this is great event because college kids love getting things for free and when he was a student the fellowship helped him feel he belonged.

“I didn’t know what community meant or what it meant to be fully loved by people and God and since coming I really felt that,” said Buchanan.

Root Beer Floats were available to the students as well as video games and raffled prizes for the students; non christian were invited as well because the point of Chi Alpha is to promote community as well as Jesus on the campus.

Campus Missions Associate Lydia D’Ambra says students need something to hold onto while in college and Jesus is available.

“We have the best news that anyone can give and that’s that Jesus loves them” said D’Ambra.
