Bridgeton, NJ- Jamayra Castro is the director of Euphoria Life, a safe space for youth in Cumberland County offering mental health services in conjunction with the Christian organization Brighter Paths along with free gaming consoles and small group discussions. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays are when Euphoria meets; Fridays are when they can be found on the second floor of the Hopeloft in their newly renovated space. Jamayra was poured into by a youth leader when she was a kid and it inspired her to do Euphoria Life to provide something good for the kids in the community of Bridgeton, the same community she’s from. “She always found a place and a space no matter how small it was to bring the community together,” said Jamayra.
On Monday’s from 3p.m. -5p.m. in Millville in The Oakview Apartments community center Euphoria Life sets up a gaming center for the youth, then in Bridgeton at the Alms Center they offer health and wellness services. Wednesday’s the Euphoria Life team travels to Delsea Village in Millville and they replicate the activities done on Monday, then they travel to Bridgeton at the Hopeloft building to host teen discussions on current events and celebrate the accomplishments of the teens that week. Fridays in Bridgeton is when gaming happens in the Hopeloft but Jamayra had a vision that Euphoria would expand to be more than just a place for youth to play games and she’s walking that dream out.
Euphoria Life has an instagram page where kids can fill out an interest form to make sure that Euphoria Life is a good fit for them to go hang out after school; but kids should know that respect is very important to Jamayra and the staff but not just respect towards them but also for the kids to respect themselves as well.
