Michael Mandarino

Assignment Editor

Michael Mandarino serves as the Assignment Editor for Follow South Jersey. He is originally from Bedminster, New Jersey, and he graduated from Penn State University in May 2020 with a bachelor's degree in digital & print journalism. During his college career, Michael served as an editor and reporter for Onward State, which is the world's largest and most widely-followed student-run news outlet. In his free time, Michael likes to play and watch golf, but he isn't very good at it.

Jaina Winston

Community Resources Writer (Intern)

Jaina Winston is the Community Services Intern for follow South Jersey. She currently attends Penn State University and lives in Lumberton, New Jersey. She is a rising sophomore pursuing a degree in journalism with a minor in Digital Media Trends & Analytics. One of Jaina’s most notable accomplishments so far is becoming the managing editor for Sovereign Magazine, which is the first magazine for people of color on Penn State’s campus. When she’s not writing, she enjoys hanging out with friends, traveling, and cooking.

Arianna Adan serves as the Higher Education Intern for Follow South Jersey. She is originally from Roselle Park, New Jersey, and she was part of the Rowan Choice Program at Rowan College of South Jersey-Gloucester. She has since transferred to Rowan University continuing her studies in journalism. She enjoys hanging out with her family in her free time and watching the news.

Dean P. Johnson

Writer / Editor

Dean P. Johnson, a lifelong resident of South Jersey, has been writing journalism and teaching literature and writing for over 30 years. He holds a BA in English and an MA in Writing both from Rowan University. He has had essays published in newspapers across the country including The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, Christian Science Monitor, among many others.

Carly Truett

Public Health Writer (Intern)

Carly Truett is Follow South Jersey’s Public Health Intern and a graduate student at the University of Michigan pursuing a Master of Public Health in Nutritional Sciences. She is originally from Pittsgrove, New Jersey. She graduated from the University of South Florida in 2016 with a degree in public health and minors in behavioral healthcare and psychology, and she worked for several years as a substance abuse counselor in Clearwater, Florida. In her free time, Carly enjoys hiking, running, and reading.

David J. Detweiler works as the Child Welfare Intern for Follow South Jersey. David currently attends Rowan College of South Jersey with the intent of graduating with his bachelor's degree in Radio/Television/Film from Rowan University. When given the time, David is a huge sports fan and loves to watch his Philadelphia teams play.
