Seven Graduate From Salem Small Business Academy

SALEM, N.J. — Seven local businesspeople graduated from the Salem Small Business Academy on April 15 at Stand Up For Salem.

The Salem Small Business Academy launched on February 4, 2025, with participants engaging in 8 weeks of comprehensive business learning experiences.

The curriculum covered a wide range of topics, including the ABCs of starting a small business, writing a business plan, leveraging social media, networking, accounting, gaining access to capital, business goals, excellence in customer service, and the certifications process (MBE or WMBE). This program has equipped new and aspiring business owners with the tools and knowledge needed to turn their dreams into reality.

The program concluded on April 15th with a business pitch session where participants shared their business ideas to Salem business owners and leaders, along with prizes, free resources, information and certificates of completion awarded to the graduates.

This class was brought together through a partnership with The African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey and Stand Up for Salem. 

Graduating from the program were Sophia Wilson, Kim Smith, Helena Johnson, Ishmael Bernard, Angela Brown, Yirann Marti, and Rigoberto Marti.
