WENONAH, N.J – As the ground begins to defrost and gardens start to bloom, farmer’s markets crop up all  over South Jersey. The Wenonah Farmers Market, located in Gloucester County, has become a  staple to the local community with many making the market a weekly ritual.

“It’s fun!” Charlotte McNally, a frequent flyer of the Wenonah Farmers Market says, “Quaint and small with a wide variety of vendors and quality goods.”

With an assortment of  stands, ranging from vegetables to pastries to crafts, there is something at the Wenonah Farmers Market for everyone.

“People are coming here with the intention of a good time,” Claire Klaus, owner of a crochet business, The Crafting Beans, claims. “It’s not just the shopping; people want to stop  and make that real-life connection.”

Founded by the Wenonah Women’s Club in 2019, the Wenonah Farmers Market has grown  exponentially. What started originally as a five-vendor operation has blossomed into a vibrant  event.

The Wenonah Farmers Market became what it has expanded into today during the  COVID-19 pandemic. When everyone was trapped within the confines of their own homes, the Wenonah Farmers Market offered the opportunity to interact with the community. By hosting the  event in Wenonah Park, vendors and neighbors alike were able to gather once a week for a taste  of normalcy.

“Wenonah is a community with a capital C,” Tamar Shelov, an event coordinator of the  Wenonah Women’s Club, reflects. “[Wenonah Farmers Market] is a place where you meet  all sorts of age groups and enables people who moved away to come back and see people they  might have not seen for a while. It is a pinpoint for people.”.

Over the years, the market has extended well past the local Wenonah community. The variety of vendors attracts customers from all over South Jersey. The Wenonah Women’s Club works hard to incorporate a unique and varied balance of vendors. Those who attend the market  will not have to travel to Philadelphia to find food such as Mom Mom’s Pierogis and the Lost  Bread Company. Those attending the Wenonah Farmers Market should expect to find a variety of  food trucks, artisans, and live music.

At its core, the Wenonah Women’s Club is dedicated to helping the community at large. Fifteen community organizations work with the Wenonah Farmers Market, such as Children’s Home  Society of New Jersey, which helps children and families in need, Wenonah Equality and the Girl  Scouts.

The Wenonah Farmers Market’s first market of the 2025 season will be held on Thursday, May 1. Attendees can join the market weekly on Thursdays in May, June, and September. July and August will each  have one market date. For updates on vendors, please visit the Wenonah Farmers Market’s  Instagram @wenonahfarmersmarket.
