SALEM, N.J. — While many people are still basking in the summer sun, getting in those last trips to the beach, backyard barbeques and pool parties, it’s never too early to plan for the flu season that is right around the corner.
Recently the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has recommended that all flu vaccines for the 2024–2025 season in the United States be trivalent, that is, protection against three viruses: H1N1, H3N2, and B/Victoria. The 2024–2025 vaccines will also include a new H3N2 virus, according to the CDC. About 21% of the vaccines will also be egg-free.
The CDC recommends that everyone 6 months and older get a flu vaccine annually, with the exception of rare cases. If possible, the CDC recommends getting vaccinated by the end of October, and not in July or August for most adults.
In preparation, the Salem County Department of Health and Human Services has scheduled several flu vaccine clinics across the county:

Salem Community College-Davidow Hall Walk-In Flu Clinic
Thursday, October 17th
4 – 7 p.m.
Schalick High School Walk-In Flu Clinic
Tuesday, October 22nd
4 – 7 p.m.
Oldmans Municipal Building Walk-In Flu Clinic
Wednesday, October 30th
4 – 7 p.m.
Carneys Point Municipal Building Walk-In Flu Clinic
Wednesday, November 13th
3 – 6 p.m.
Salem County residents 3 years or older will be accepted at the clinics and no appointment is necessary.
