COLLINGSWOOD, N.J. — The Borough of Collingswood began Christmas and holiday festivities on Saturday, November 29, with its 37th annual holiday parade.

Crowds lined up on the sides of Haddon Avenue to see the festivities, with appearances from mummers, local marching bands, and Santa Claus. Classic cars and dancers also crowded the street along with an atmosphere of bubbles, artificial snow, and even bagpipes playing Christmas music.
For an hour, the main street was shut down to have volunteers and performers brighten the cold morning. The event was made possible by Camden County and other local sponsors.
“They have so many fun things,” said Amanda Magitz, an eventgoer. “They’ve got the mummers, and they have the characters and the marching bands and stuff make it a lot of fun for the kids, and us.”
Other eventgoers like Billy Jess and Eva Baptista attended for the first time. For them, the parade started off a day of Christmas decorating.
“Today is all day Christmas,” Jess said.
