MAYS LANDING, N.J. – Aseealah Davis, president of the nonprofit A.W.I.S.H., put together the fourth annual Juneteenth Celebration of Freedom event on Thursday, June 19, 2025 for the community.
Vendors, poets, and artists made time to enjoy the festivities with everyone eating food and drinking water to stay hydrated because the temperature rose to nearly 100 degrees.
Davis wants community members to feel what she felt as a kid growing up in Newark, NJ, having block parties. She believes that times are too few and far between for people to get together in Mays Landing, and she aims to change it.
The event also had a performance by praise dancers as well as spoken word artists, but at the top of the event the National Anthem was sung, reminding everyone Juneteenth is recognized as a national holiday.
Mays Landing’s Juneteenth celebration was definitely What’s Good in South Jersey!
