Camden County College Hosts Exhibit On Legacy Of Philadelphia Negro League Baseball

CHERRY HILL, N.J. — Beginning on the first day of Black History Month, Camden County College in Cherry Hill will be hosting the “A League Apart” exhibition that showcases the stories of the Philadelphia Negro Baseball Leagues and their ongoing legacy a their William G. Rohrer Center beginning February 1 and running through May 20.

The “A League Apart” exhibition focuses on the importance of breaking barriers through photos and stories, according to its website. The installation specifically highlights five individuals: Octavious Catto, Ed Bolden, Richard “Dick” Allen, Henry “Pop” Lloyd, and Mo’ne Davis.

“I can’t think of a better way to honor and celebrate Black History Month than with an exhibition highlighting contributions and accomplishments made by Black Americans in our region,” Commissioner Jonathan Young said in a press release from the county. “I encourage everyone to visit the exhibition while it is at Camden County College, as it is a wonderful opportunity to learn about the history of the Negro Baseball Leagues here in the Philadelphia and South Jersey area.”

The exhibition is free and will be at Camden County College William G. Rohrer Center, 1889 Marlton Pike East in Cherry Hill. The exhibit is open Mondays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. It is closed on Sundays. For more information visit aleagueapart.org.
