CHERRY HILL, N.J. — Elected officials and members of the Katz Jewish Community Center on Monday, May 22, to honor Jewish American Heritage Month as well as the 75th birthday of Israel.
Camden County Commissioner Melinda Kane said how important it is to honor the history and stand with Jewish people.
“With antisemitism on the rise in this country, it’s more important than ever to come together to honor the history of Jewish people in America and stand together for a brighter future,” Kane said. “From art to music, scientific discoveries and more, Jewish Americans have contributed greatly to the development of our great country, and that deserves to be recognized and celebrated.”
Each year in May, hundreds of organizations and Americans from all religious and cultural backgrounds come together to celebrate the rich history of American Jewish people.
This year’s Jewish American Heritage Month also coincides with the 75th birthday of Israel. Israel declared its independence on May 14, 1948, and each year, Israeli Independence Day honors the momentous occasion.
The Katz Jewish Community Center will hold the event, Israel 75, celebrating the Israeli culture and history. The event will include an exclusive art exhibit, a VR experience, food, music, and dancing. Israel 75 will take place at the community center on Saturday, June 4 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The Katz Jewish Community Center is located at 1301 Springdale Road in Cherry Hill.
