VOORHEES, N.J. — The three Jefferson Health’s New Jersey hospitals — Cherry Hill, Stratford, and Washington Township — were each awarded an ‘A’ in the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade for fall 2021.
The national distinction recognizes Jefferson New Jersey’s achievements in protecting patients from harm and error in the hospital.
“At a time when healthcare organizations are more vital than ever, we are especially honored to be recognized for our ongoing commitment to safety,” said Brian Sweeney, RN, MHA, FACHE, Jefferson Health – New Jersey President & Chief Operating Officer. “It is especially gratifying — as well as meaningful — to have all three of our acute care hospitals reach this level of achievement. We are proud of our physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff, who have deployed best practice systems and processes to achieve stellar clinical outcomes for our patients.”
The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on more than 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, injuries, accidents and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm. It is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harms to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
