CHERRY HILL, N.J. — The Camden County Commissioner Board has approved the recommendations of the Open Space, Recreation, Farmland and Historical Preservation Trust Fund Advisory Committee to award $650,000 to 26 recreation facility enhancement projects throughout the county.

“Across the county these funds will be utilized to upgrade, improve, or renovate recreational facilities for our residents and the families that call Camden County home,” Commissioner Jeff Nash, liaison to the county Division Environmental Affairs, said. “From ball fields to park trails, this program ensures that we have access to safe outdoor and green spaces in each of our municipalities. These third spaces are critical to the special quality of life we have in our community. These grants will fund upgrades and expansions, which will be a direct and indirect benefit to every resident in the county.”

In 1998, the residents of Camden County voted overwhelmingly in support of a referendum to create the Camden County Open Space, Recreation, Farmland and Historical Preservation Trust Fund, to be used to acquire, preserve and maintain environmentally sensitive lands, open space, drinking water sources, historic sites, recreation areas and farmland within Camden County.
