SALEM, N.J. – The Salem County Office of Alcohol & Drug Abuse Services and the Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse will be participating in New Jersey’s fourth annual “Knock Out Opioid Abuse Day.”
This is a statewide initiative that will mobilize the prevention community. Their goal is to raise awareness of the potential of dependency on prescribed pain medication and its link to heroin abuse rates.
Volunteers will be spreading awareness by leaving information on the doorknobs of neighbors on October 6. Each volunteer will have door hangers and other materials provided by the Office of Alcohol & Drug Abuse Services to assist in spreading the word about the dangers of opiate abuse leading to heroin use.
Many Salem County schools will also be sending home information for parents and caregivers.
