HADDONFIELD, N.J. – For the second year in a row, USA Today has announced that the town of Haddonfield was named one of the Best Historic Small Towns in the United States.
The town ranked number 10 in the USA Today’s 10Best Reader’s Choice travel awards. The list is created by a group of travel experts work with USA Today.
“With over 20 small towns throughout the country nominated for this prestigious award, it’s truly an honor to have Haddonfield recognized as one of the top 10 historic small towns in the U.S. for the second year in a row,” Haddonfield Mayor Neal Rochford said. “We hope that this continued recognition will encourage those who haven’t experienced our historic town, to come and visit for the day when in the Delaware Valley area.”
According to USA Today, Haddonfield was occupied by European settlers since the late 1600s. A Quaker meetinghouse was established in 1721 which allowed the town to flourish.
Visitors can see a statue of Haddy the Hadrosaurus Foulkii, which was the first “most complete dinosaur skeleton unearthed anywhere in the world” when it was unearthed in 1858. Visitors can also see the colonial Indian King Tavern which was turned into a museum and the Greenfield Hall.
