New Jersey Educational Opportunity Fund Honors 32 RCGC Students

DEPTFORD, N.J. – The New Jersey Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Board of Directors and the New Jersey Higher Education Office honored 32 Rowan College at Gloucester County (RCGC) students for their academic excellence. Awards were presented to the students at the President’s Awards Ceremony held on Tuesday, May 14th in the College’s Physical Education Center.

Courtney Eckstadt, a former student of Pinelands Regional High School, was selected as the 2019 Outstanding Achievement Spotlight Award winner. This award is given annually to one student per campus for exemplifying the spirit and intent of the EOF Program.

Chelsea Daly, a former student of Washington Township High School, was selected as the 2019 Distinguished Scholar Award recipient. This award is presented to students who have consistently maintained a cumulative grade point average of 4.00 throughout their college career. 

Sixteen RCGC students received the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award for compiling a GPA of 3.5 or higher during their collegiate career, including: Felix Acosta, Williamstown High School; Aira May Alday, Washington Township High School; Carly D’Agostino, Washington Township High School; Jasskaran Channa, Glassboro High School; Marketa Dunbar, Penn Wood High School; Courtney Eckstadt, Pinelands Regional High School; Jonathan Ferrell, Camden Catholic High School; Melton Leach III, Paulsboro High School; Suzanne F. Nelson, Gateway Regional High School; Donna Owens, Sterling High School; Taylor Palumbo, West Deptford High School; Fahren Rilley, Cumberland Christian School; Jessica Rump, Arthur P. Schalick High School; Jeremy Sadowski, Washington Township High School; Tia Thomas, State of New Jersey Board of Education; and Shyanna Thomason, Classical County High School.

In addition, fifteen students were honored with the Academic Achievement Award for maintaining a GPA of 3.2 to 3.4: Nicole Andreacchio, Williamstown High School; William Bartolome, Williamstown High School; Angelina Casiano, Kingsway Regional High School; Kacie Gillespie, Gloucester City Junior/Senior High School; Amanda Houha, Woodstown High School; Katie Ireland, Clearview Regional High School; Anabella Juarez-Perez, Salem County Christian Academy; Sabrina Lee, Emerson Junior/Senior High School; Jonathan McElroy, Woodstown High School; Jeremy Mercado, Gateway Regional High School; Brandon Ramsaran, Washington Township High School; Taylor Schemeley, Delsea Regional High School; Muntaha Tamanna, Lindenwold High School; Naiya Tate; Washington Township High School; and Julia Versace, Washington Township High School.

The EOF program at RCGC provides access to higher education for students who demonstrate great potential to succeed but lack the economic and academic resources. The program promotes academic excellence through innovative support services and programs focused on student retention, graduation and transfer, and is annually ranked among the best EOF programs in New Jersey. EOF students win major academic awards and are campus leaders in student organizations and community service projects.
