BRIDGETON, N.J. – New Jersey Assembly Majority Leader Louis Greenwald (D) presented a ceremonial check to the New Jersey Civic Information Consortium (NJCIC) in the amount of $2.5 million on Monday, August 4 at the Hopeloft building in Bridgeton.

When the NJCIC funding was cut from the New Jersey state budget, Majority Leader Greenwald successfully worked to get it reinstated. NJCIC funds local news outlets throughout the state including Follow South Jersey.

Clyde Hughes of Front Runner New Jersey, another news outlet supported by NJCIC funding, praised the Assemblyman’s work.

“Assemblyman Greenwald here really is a testament to the importance that he places not only on this program for local journalism but also in south jersey as well” said Hughes.

Assemblyman Greenwald of New Jersey’s 6th district admits that competition was pretty stiff once securing the grant and believes he’s in for another fight this time next year.
