CAMDEN, N.J. – The Camden Arts Festival is curated by Maurice ‘The Authentic’ Hayman, a leader in the city who invests time into making the youth feel seen and special.
This year marks the 2nd annual Camden Arts Festival that took place behind the Neighborhood Center that shares similar sentiments with Hayman because the Neighborhood Center, like the festival, aims to transform the community positively.

“Instead of talking about problems, I like to create solutions,” said Hayman. “We see so many adult art vendors, but who’s opening up the doors for the youth?”
Derrick Lane is a young artist from Camden who says events like these matter because he feels like part of the community, a community of young artists just like him. Lane has several journals filled with sketches and other drawings that were on display showing off his potential and talent.
“When artists are together they share ideas,” said Lane. “I feel that the youth can get a sense of inspiration.”
The Camden Youth Arts Festival community featured Exotic Egg Roll Dealer from Reya Crosland. She provided a table full of egg rolls that made people stop what they were doing to grab a few.
The Camden Youth Arts Festival was definitely What’s Good in South Jersey!
