SOUTH JERSEY – As we come together to celebrate Juneteenth, communities across South Jersey are preparing for Juneteenth with vibrant celebrations, powerful reflections, and joyful festivals and gatherings.

Recognized as a federal holiday since 2021, Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865—the day enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, learned of their emancipation years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. This year, towns throughout South Jersey are hosting a wide range of family-friendly events to honor the holiday. From flag-raising ceremonies and cultural festivals to live music, food trucks, and educational experiences, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
