BRIDGETON, N.J. — It’s time again to pull out your sombreros and sarapes for Bridgeton’s Cinco de Mayo Community Fiesta. The City of Bridgeton and the NJ Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ) Authority have planned a community event scheduled for Sunday, May 04, from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to celebrate the Mexican holiday.

In the United States, the celebration of Cinco De Mayo is not just about commemorating Mexico’s 1862 victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla but rather a celebration of Mexican culture and heritage.

The city of Bridgeton has prepared a fun-filled day to entertain our whole community.  The event will include live music, shopping, games, food trucks, and community resources. Families with children should get there early because, there will be many free activities from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. including face painting, bouncy houses, a gaming truck, a mechanical bull ride, and a community piñata breaking.

Stephanie Gonzalez of UEZ promises the Cinco De Mayo Fiesta will be a great experience for the whole family.

“In the vibrant heart of Bridgeton’s Riverfront, people from diverse backgrounds come together, fostering a remarkable sense of unity and connection,” Gonzalez said. “This enchanting setting serves as a melting pot of cultures and experiences, where individuals find common ground and build meaningful relationships.”

Gonzalez said that she sees the event as an opportunity to come together as a community in celebration of our many Mexican citizens and the cultural heritage they’ve woven into Bridgeton’s cultural identity.

“The atmosphere will be filled with warmth and camaraderie,” she said, “creating an inviting space that celebrates the beauty of diversity and the strength of Bridgeton’s community. It is a delightful reminder of how, when we come together, we can create a tapestry of shared stories and friendships that enrich our lives.”
