COLLINGSWOOD, N.J. — Empower Her – Addressing the Needs of Female Veterans, a panel discussion the focusing on the experience of women who have served in the military will be held on Sunday, March 10 at 12 p.m. at the Collingswood Ballroom.
Hosted by the Camden County Office of Veterans Affairs, the event will discuss actions that can done to make sure female veterans receive care and resources that they need.
“The experience of women in the military is a distinct one; it is one that can differ vastly from their male counterparts,” Commissioner Melinda Kane, liaison the Office of Veterans Affairs, said in a press release from the county. “Sunday’s event is an opportunity for women to come together to discuss what it means to be a female veteran and what we can do as a community to better serve them in terms of medical care, mental health support and trauma informed care.”
Topics for the panel will include the stigma of being a woman veteran, whole health wellness and self-care, and veteran trauma. The panelists for the event are Dr. Shelby Munschauer, clinical psychologist and military sexual trauma coordinator; Vanessa Jenkins, vice commander of the American Legion Camden County Committee; Monique Holmes, women’s health and wellness coach for the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center; and Sonyaa Kitchen, veteran outreach program specialist at the Center City Vet Center.
