PEDRICKTOWN, N.J. – Salem Community College and several community partners celebrated the opening of the Gino Mistichelli Field, the new home of the SCC Mighty Oaks men and women’s soccer teams, on Tuesday, July 11.

The celebration recognized the late Gino Mistichelli who was an active community volunteer and local business owner as well as the Penns Grove VFW Post 8840 for donating a flag pole and American flag. Also recognized was PSEG for funding the scoreboard and the Oldmans Township government and Oldmans Township School for their ongoing  support to bring the soccer-field project to completion.

Gino Mistichelli was the proprietor of The Country Store, a popular business started by his parents in Pedricktown, until his unexpected passing on July 29, 2021. A beloved  member of the Oldmans/Pedricktown communities, Mistichelli helped coach his son’s youth soccer team. He is survived by his wife, Christine, and their three children.

According to the college, community service is an essential component of SCC Mighty Oaks Athletics. Over the past year, student-athletes and coaches have attended Oldmans Township School activities, and visited classes. SCC looks forward to continuing these initiatives in the 2023-24 school year.

Gino Mistichelli Field is located at Oldmans Township School, 10 Freed Road, Pedricktown.
