BLACKWOOD, N.J. — The Camden County Health Hub, located at Camden County College’s Blackwood campus, will be modifying its hours in response to the continuing changes of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This week’s vaccine hours will be Monday and Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Health Hub will be closed on Wednesday and Friday.

Beginning the week of June 27, the Health Hub will only be open on from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursdays.

There will also be no testing on site, but test kits will be available for residents to pick up and test at their leisure.

In addition to the modified hours, the Health Hub will now administer the Pfizer vaccine to children six months to four years old and the Moderna vaccine to children six months to five years old, after the Food and Drug Administration recently authorized the use in this age group.

“I think parents of young children everywhere are breathing a sigh of relief,” Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli Jr. said in a press release from the county. “It’s been a long road of exercising extreme caution and waiting for the green light to vaccinate this age group. And now that the FDA has given its authorization, we are just one step closer to a post-pandemic world.”

Last month, the Health Hub began administering booster shots to children ages 5 to 11. All adults and children ages 5 to 17 are all eligible now eligible for their booster shots.

“Now it’s important to recognize that these children under age 5 who receive the Pfizer vaccine will be given three doses at one-tenth the strength of adult doses and children under age 6 who receive the Moderna vaccine for their age group will receive two doses at one-quarter the strength of an adult dose,” Cappelli said. “We know that vaccines are our best tool to fight against this insidious virus and now some of the most vulnerable will be able to be protected. So, if you are the parent of a child in this age group, please consider getting them vaccinated.”
