MILLVILLE, N.J. — Millville High School’s athletic department has released its plans and protocols to conduct athletics in a safe and orderly fashion this fall.

As far as football is concerned, the usual ticket stands you may be accustomed to seeing outside of Wheaton Field will not be used this fall. Instead, each Millville athlete will be given two tickets to give to spectators for home games. Only people who have those tickets can attend these athletic events. This applies to people with passes, such as scouts, as well.

When entering sporting events, everyone will be required to have their temperature checked prior to entry. A temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher will result in a denial of watching or participating in the event. Masks are required once entering the sporting event. However, athletes may remove their face covering at the start of play.

Bus rides for away events will adhere to social distancing protocols in place. Since this limits the amount of seats available on the bus, teams may post a “dress list” for their athletes, who must wear a mask for the entirety of the bus ride. Each school will have its own regulations for its respective athletic events, and coaches will be expected to notify their athletes of these protocols.

Millville began its football season on October 2. The Thunderbolts lost their season-opening game against Hammonton by a final score of 27-22. The team will be back in action for its home opener against St. Augustine Prep at 6 p.m. on Friday, October 9 at Wheaton Field.

If you have any further questions about Millville’s coronavirus-related protocols surrounding athletic events, you can email athletic director David Lagamba here.
