PENNSVILLE, N.J. — The Salem County Department of Health and Human Services GrandFUN program will be meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 3 from 1 to 3 p.m., at the Home Coming Art Studio to make Hula Hoop Rugs.
GrandFUN was created for Grandparents and Other Older Adult Caregivers (55+), who have primary caregiving responsibilities for children under 18 years of age.
A Hula Hoop Rug is made from seven to nine old t-shirts cut into strips and woven and tied together to make a round rug using a hula hoop as the frame. Each family will need to supply t-shirts for the event.
Shirts will be cut ahead time. If you don’t have enough shirts, the Salem County Office on Aging and Disabilities will provide shirts when asked when you register.
Home Coming Art Studio is located at 86A N. Broadway in Pennsville.
Advanced registration is required. To register or obtain more information about GrandFUN, call the Salem County Office on Aging and Disabilities at 856-339-8622.
