MAYS LANDING, N.J. – Atlantic County will host The Wake Up Project’s second annual Wakeboard Competition and Food Truck Festival in Mays Landing.

The free festival will be held on Saturday, July 27th at Lake Lenape Park East located at 753 Park Road in Mays Landing at 9:30 a.m.

It combines water sports, family fun, and food to raise awareness for mental health and suicide prevention. The Wake Up Project was founded to honor the memory of local resident Cole Rocap who took his own life in 2016.

“Our mission is to create an atmosphere where people can feel safe to talk about suicide and mental illness,” Vince Giardino of the Wake Up Project said in a press release. “Lake Lenape has a rich history of water activities. We hope this event helps to continue those traditions while raising money for a great cause.”

The wakeboard competition will have divisions for all levels of experience, and as many as 10 food truck vendors on site. Mental health professionals will also be available to provide education and information.
