The Museum of Cape May County Celebrates Coast Guard History

The Museum of Cape May County has announced its newest exhibition Always Ready: Always Here, that highlights the history of the United States Coast Guard’s impact throughout Cape May County.

The mission of the exhibition is to bring to life the history of the brave men and women who have given their service to not only our nation but to our county. Always Ready: Always Here will offer visitors a chance to see artifacts and memorabilia demonstrating the Coast Guard’s deep roots in our county history, including life-saving stations.

The historic 1857 first-order Fresnel lens that stood atop the Cape May lighthouse will be lighted and on display in the 1780 Smith Barn.

The special grand opening of the exhibition is free and open to the public and will take place on Wednesday, May 1st from 7-9 p.m., in the gallery of The Museum of Cape May County, 504 Route 9 North in Cape May Court House. Always Ready: Always Here will open for general tours Thur., May 2. Admission to the gallery exhibition is free.
