BRIDGETON — Inez McRae is the owner of Miss Inez’s Children’s House and she now also owns a place called Tiny Town.

For children ages six and under, it’s meant to be a safe place to bring children while parents work or just need a bit of time to themselves. McRae says she treats all kids the same way based on three principles that have not changed in her 25 year career of being a caretaker.

“Love, Respect, and Honor. I treat the kids like people,” said McRae.

McRae created Tiny Town when she realized there was no place for little kids to play without getting trampled upon and she designed Tiny Town exactly like a Town where you have to be a kid to live there.

In Tiny Town there’s a barbershop, grocery store, and even a library. It is based off of the things that excited McRae as a child when she left the house and entered town with her family. Growing up McRae lived on a farm and had her responsibilities which included feeding the pigs, and she would make sure that the big pigs were not taking too much from the little ones, which informed her work today.

“I always looked for kids, for the ones who couldn’t get their equal share in life,” McRae said.

McRae says some kids may feel like leaving when they start, but by the time pick up time arrives, they rarely want to leave.
