CARNEYS POINT, N.J. – Salem Community College Trustee Dorothy “Dot” Hall received the New Jersey Council of County Colleges’ (NJCCC) Ronald D. Winthers Trustee Leadership Award on June 5. The award honors the memory of the Rowan College at Burlington County trustee emeritus who chaired the NJCCC from 2008 to 2011, according to a press release from Salem Community College.

Hall, the longest-serving trustee in the college’s history, joined the SCC Board in 1999.  During her 26-year tenure, the Alloway resident has held every Board leadership position and chaired two presidential search committees. She also served in leadership positions at the state level, including the NJCCC executive committee. She currently chairs the SCC Foundation Board.

“Dot has earned such trust among her fellow SCC Board members that they look to her for counsel, guidance, and reassurance because they know her ‘True North’ is what will be in the best interest of our students as well as Salem County,” SCC President Dr. Mike Gorman said in the press release.

“Dot is also a role model for her dedication to representing the trustees at special events,” he continued.  “She attends every event possible on and off campus.  Over more than a quarter century, Dot has logged thousands of miles on the New Jersey Turnpike, Interstate 295 and the Garden State Parkway to attend community college meetings.  She has set a high bar for community college trustees not only in New Jersey but across the country.

“Dot’s only interest is serving the learning needs of Salem County residents.  When drawing a template for the perfect Board member, Dot Hall is the model,” Gorman added.

According to SCC, the Ronald D. Winthers Award recognizes Hall for “exemplary vision, leadership, and unwavering commitment to New Jersey’s 18 Community Colleges and their students.”
