CARNEY’S POINT, N.J. – Salem Community College’s Associate Degree in Nursing program has earned continuing accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
The ACEN Board of Commissioners praised SCC’s Information Technology department for its rapid response to support students when classes moved online in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. ACEN also noted that nursing students received an extraordinary amount in scholarship funds through the SCC Foundation under the leadership of Executive Director Ceil Smith.
“Congratulations to Director of Nursing and Allied Health Dr. Theresa Covello, who led the reaccreditation efforts, and the Nursing faculty and staff on this outstanding accomplishment,” SCC President Michael Gorman said at the Board of Trustees’ November meeting at which the Nursing faculty and staff were each presented proclamations.
Vice President of Academic Affairs Ken Robell noted the College’s strategic decision to expand the programs to address the growing demand for nursing professionals. “We applaud Dr. Covello, faculty and staff for undertaking this ambitious expansion while preparing for the ACEN visit,” Robell said.
ACEN has scheduled its next evaluation visit for spring 2030. To learn about SCC’s nursing programs, visit www.salemcc.edu/nursing.
