GLASSBORO, N.J. — On Monday, Hollybush Gardens in Glassboro hosted an event that showcased the spirit and generosity of the community.
Keysha Eleazer was the main component of the event, which was called “Share in the Community Experience.” Eleazer put the event together, hosted it as an emcee, and organized other components of the event like a free food distribution and clothing giveaways.
“I’m about community, not just individuality,” Eleazer said. “Although it is important to love yourself, but also, love your neighbor as you love yourself. It’s about just coming out, sharing, giving, and receiving. It takes a village.”
Perhaps the highlight of the event was a horseshoe contest between the children in attendance. The winner of the game earned $50 straight out of Eleazer’s pocket. The event also featured live musical performances from a number of local artists — including Cainaan “No Nonsense” Cooper.
“This is inspiration itself, man,” Cooper said. “To see a bunch of people — not only grown people, but young people — that’s what I do this for. Even when it comes to my own branding and my own business, we got to come together as one. And it comes together at home first. No matter what we’re doing, we’re all connected in some way, shape, or form. That’s South Jersey for you.”
