In a battle for second place in the Diamond Division, Salem heads to Glassboro Friday night to take on the Bulldogs.
The Rams put their head down and didn’t stop against the Rams of Overbrook, putting up 40 while giving way to nothing. Jahki Coates passed for 82 yards, while Da’Shon Bundy pounded all afternoon for 170 yards off 5 attempts, scoring twice. Salem looks to take their high power run and passing game into Glassboro and take second place from the Bulldogs before they face off with first place Penns Grove on November 2nd.
Glassboro will not let go of their position of second easily, as they try to hold momentum for their match up with Penns Grove on October 26. Glassboro is coming off their Bye Week with plenty of time to prep for Salem. The week prior, they routed Schalick 35-7. However, the game started with a Schalick touchdown and thanks to a lucky roll over a Schalick defender, Glassboro scored their first touchdown on the following drive.
The game would stay tight until late in the first half with a 30-yard passing touchdown to Keon Sabb gave them momentum heading to the locker room. A slow start against Salem might end their night early, but if the Bulldogs can get their strong running game going early, they should be able to keep pace with Salem. In the end, it will probably be a close battle coming down to who has the ball last, or who made most of their extra points. Kickoff starts at 7 p.m. at Glassboro.
