Investigators Searching for ‘Key Piece of Information’ for Missing 5-Year-Old, Dulce Maria Alavez

An Amber Alert has been issued for Dulce Maria Alavez, 5, who went missing at the Bridgeton City Park shortly after 4 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 16.

BRIDGETON, N.J. — The search for missing 5-year-old Dulce Maria Alavez continues as investigators keep following every possible lead.

On Friday, October 4th, at a press conference at the Bridgeton Municipal Courtroom Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae gave some updates on the investigation.

Law enforcement has been searching all across Bridgeton for any evidence of Dulce.

“More than 200 locations, including abandoned buildings and desolate areas have been searched, including several extensive searches of the Bridgeton Recreational Area and the City Park by land, air, and water,” Webb-McRae said.

The Bridgeton Police Department, the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office, the New Jersey State Police, and the FBI are still in the county actively working on Dulce’s case.

Law enforcement is looking for a “key piece of information” that could lead them to Dulce or to the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.

To date, investigators have received and processed over 1,000 tips and over 500 vehicles have been identified and investigated. They are also investigating photos and videos of the Bridgeton City Park Recreational Area at around the time Dulce went missing.

Webb-McRae also said that investigators have made contact with sex offenders in the county to find their whereabouts when Dulce went missing.

“Investigators have reviewed and continue to make contact with numerous sex offenders throughout the county to ascertain their whereabouts around the time Dulce went missing,” Webb-McRae said.

With no physical evidence indicating that Dulce has been physically harmed, investigators continue to act under the premise that she is alive and that all leads will be investigated.

Dulce has brown eyes and hair, stands approximately 3′ tall, and weighs 60 to 70 pounds. Dulce Maria Alavez was last seen wearing a yellow shirt, black and white checkered pants with a flower design, and white sandals.

Law enforcement has been asking the public to submit any videos or photos of the Bridgeton City Park Recreational Area from Monday, Sept. 16 from 3 to 6 p.m. The information from the photos and videos may be innocuous but it could potentially be valuable to the investigation to bring Dulce back home.
