Salem County to Host Picnic for Veterans and Their Families This October

CARNEYS POINT, N.J. — The Penns Grove VFW will host a free picnic for veterans and their families on Saturday, October 19 from noon to 3 p.m.

The event is free for all veterans and members of their families. Attendees must register before October 5 by submitting a form to the Salem County Veterans Affairs Office.

The event is sponsored by the Salem County Freeholders, the Salem County Veterans Affairs Office, and some generous sponsorship companies.

Food will be served from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. and there will also be VA informational booths, a donation drive for Toys for Tots, entertainment and music, Grandpop’s Army / Navy Store, and a drop off for old and worn U.S. flags for proper disposal.

The event is handicap-accessible, and anyone interested in learning more can check the Salem County Veterans Affairs Facebook page for updates. All veterans who register before October 5 will also receive a complimentary t-shirt.
