MULLICA HILL, N.J. – Gloucester County 4-H is gearing up for another year of its fair beginning on Thursday, July 24 through Sunday July 27 at the 4-H Fairgrounds in Mullica Hill.

Attendees can enjoy the “old-time country” feel that is provided with the help of the 4‑H Fair Association for all four days.

Gloucester County 4-H Senior Program Coordinator Brittany Rigg describes this fair as a “great community event” and it gives members of the program an opportunity to show off all their hard work throughout the year.

Youth is the focus of 4-H. They have a chance to learn by doing. The skills they obtain and the projects they work on prepare them for a successful future.

Subjects like nutrition and wood working are at their disposal. This fair gives 4-H members a chance to showcase these obtained skills whether it be a new recipe they developed or an impressive new piece.

Rigg says her favorite part of her job is seeing these kids grow, learn, and eventually come back and visit all grown up.

In addition to 4-H club exhibits, other events include a livestock auction on Friday, July 25 at 7:30 p.m., and draft horse pulls on Saturday, July 26 at 7:30 p.m.

There will also be a car show on Saturday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. with five foot trophies going to the best of show old school, new gen, and import cars.

Events like the livestock auctions, horse pulls, and corn husking competition give this fair that old time country feeling. Rigg says people are in awe of this sort of environment as it is one they might not get to experience in their day to day life.

From an education about the differences in rabbit breeds to seeing a turtle on a dog leash, the Gloucester County 4-H Fair has no shortage of surprises.

Rigg’s favorite memory comes from bringing her family along, watching the draft horse pulls while enjoying the delicious BBQ provided by vendors at the fair.

She encourages all to come out to learn, have fun and enjoy everything the fair has to offer.

The Gloucester County 4-H Fairground is located at 275 Bridgeton Pike (Rt. 77), Mullica Hill, NJ. Visit their Facebook and their website for additional information and daily schedules of events.
