MAYS LANDING, N.J. – Recovery Centers of America (RCA) is a network of treatment facilities that focuses on helping people with substance use disorders with locations in South Amboy and Mays Landing. For the month of June, “Rebuild Your Life Month,” they are offering tips to those who are in addiction recovery.

Over the past five years, over 14,000 people have died due to the opioid crisis in New Jersey alone. In 2022 there were 989 drug-related deaths in South Jersey counties, with the breakdown being 255 in Atlantic County, 151 in Burlington, 354 in Camden, 44 in Cape May, 76 in Cumberland, 87 in Gloucester, and 22 in Salem. In 2023, NJ Cares has recorded 910 suspected drug related deaths so far.

RCA Executive Officer J. Brian O’Neill explained the importance of supporting people who are rebuilding their life post-addiction struggles.

“Evidence-based treatment centers represent an important first step in recovery for so many people as they begin their life after active addiction,” O’Neill said. “Effective treatment means not only caring for patients when they are in treatment, but setting them up with the tools for lifetime success. Recovery Centers of America is excited to highlight that effort throughout the month of June.”

RCA suggests that people focus on setting goals, exploring passions and hobbies, building a strong support system, and practicing gratitude this month. They also suggest leaving old friends and activities in the past, and implementing healthy habits into their new life. The organization offers individualized treatment programs to help those on their journey to sobriety.
