Egg Harbor City Closes Lake This Week, Set to Re-Open Over Labor Day Weekend

EGG HARBOR CITY, N.J. — This week, Egg Harbor City’s lake will be closed to the public. Mayor Lisa Jiampetti announced the closing in an email to city residents earlier this week, and it will last through Friday.

Despite the closure throughout the week, normal operations will resume over Labor Day weekend. Mayor Jiampetti cited a shortage of lifeguard availability as the reason for the closure this week.

The lake will reopen to the public from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday through Monday.

Although the weather forecast for the remainder of the week is filled with sunshine, Egg Harbor City residents aren’t necessarily missing out on an ideal lake day on Wednesday. The remnants of Hurricane Ida are set to bring a heightened risk of severe thunderstorms to South Jersey and rainfall to most, if not all of the state.
