ELMER, N.J. — The Appel Farm Arts and Music Campus is teaming up with Meals on Wheels to serve the Salem County community. Meals on Wheels will move its administrative offices to the Appel Farm campus, which is located in Elmer.
The goal of this project is to better leverage assets and resources for cost savings and income generation. Meals on Wheels executive director Carly Melchert said that partnering with the Appel Farm Arts and Music Campus will give both organizations more financial stability going forward.”
Meals on Wheels of Salem County has already done so much for the community, but it always works to do more. They deliver more than 40,000 hot meals to community members every year,. And they have also spent more than 5,000 hours and traveled more than 62,000 miles in order to help people to eat.
Appel Farm Arts Camp is now chipping in to help by giving fresh food and farm-to-table connections.
“Our mission to provide transformative arts learning experiences always includes food,” Appel Farm executive director Cori Solomon said.“This ‘food, culture, and care’ partnership expands the reach of our mission while providing for a critical need in our community at the same time.”
Volunteers will learn more about the Meals on Wheels program and agriculture in general, and they will also see first hand what the industry like. Meals on Wheels will still manage all of its daily operations, including coordinating volunteers for meal delivery.
