Morey’s Piers Receives Prestigious Brass Ring Award from IAAPA

WILDWOOD, N.J. — Morey’s Piers in Wildwood, New Jersey was recently honored with an award for “Best Midway Games Operations” at the 2019 International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) Brass Ring Awards held on Nov. 20.

According to their website, the IAAPA, “is the premier trade association representing the diverse and ever-changing attractions industry.” Originally founded in 1914, the organization works to connect companies of all sizes, and people of all levels, to provide meaningful experiences for their guests around the world. This year’s IAAPA Expo was held in Orlando, Florida.

“Morey’s Piers strives to create memorable game experiences for both employees and guests by valuing safety, professionalism, engagement, efficiency and fun,” said Mike Weimar, senior games manager of Morey’s Piers, in a press release. “Our unique training, innovative operations, and incomparable guest service allows us to operate a world class game operation at one of the best seaside parks in the world.”

Their “Games 101” training program is the key to successful game operations. It incorporates both classroom and real-life exercises to demonstrate the difference between mediocre and exceptional game procedures. Upon completion, new game operators are prepared to deliver the best possible experience to visitors, according to Morey’s Piers management.

The seaside attraction is home to 42 games spread across three piers on the Wildwood Boardwalk and feature several types of games like group, skill, “winner every time,” chance, and interactive. Interactive games have added excitement and interaction to the piers by allowing participants to be the main attraction while also enticing others to cheer and watch. At Morey’s Piers, guests can compete in the “Strong Man Challenge” or test sports skills with the “Three Point Challenge,” “Soccer Challenge,” and “Hockey Challenge.”

The IAAPA Brass Ring Awards annually recognize achievements of excellence and innovations throughout the global attractions industry. The awards received their name from a tradition dating back to the 1800s in which carousel riders attempted to grasp one of the few brass rings located next to the ride to receive a prize. The IAAPA Brass Ring Awards are considered one of the global attractions industry’s most prestigious honors.
