ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — During a special meeting on Tuesday, October 15 former Atlantic City Council President and Acting Mayor Marty Small Sr. became the new mayor of Atlantic City.
In a unanimous vote of 8-0, at the Henry E. “Hank” Tyner Memorial Council Chambers, City Council members elected Small Sr. as the new mayor of Atlantic City. Small Sr. abstained from the vote.
Small Sr. was one of three nominees to fill in the spot left by former Mayor Frank Gilliam who resigned earlier this month after he pleaded guilty to taking $87,215 from the AC Starz Basketball Club, a nonprofit that he founded in 2011.
During a speech, he said that he plans on working on property taxes for residents of Atlantic City, bettering the relationship between the City and Atlantic County, and bring more opportunities to the City.
