Pitter-Patter of Many Little Feet: City of Cape May Prepares for 87th Baby Parade

CAPE MAY, N.J. – The 87th Annual Cape May Baby Parade is scheduled for Friday, August 2 and steps off at 11 a.m. from Congress Street and Beach Avenue. The Grand Marshall leading the procession will be Cape May’s “Queen Maysea” of 2019, Corinna LaPuma. She’ll guide the parade down Beach Avenue from Congress Street to Howard Street where the parade ends. 

Participants should definitely wear shoes!

Participants are invited into the Cape May Convention Hall immediately following the parade for the awards ceremony conducted by the Grand Marshal and Mayor Clarence F. Lear III. Trophies will be awarded in four separate categories: “Pretty Baby,” “Children Walking in Fancy Dress,” “Children Walking in Comic Dress,” and “Decorated on Wheels.” There will also be awards for “Best Float” (motorized or pulled) and “Best Overall Entry.”

Registration is free to all participants 12 years of age or younger. Registration and judging will be held at Congress Street and Beach Avenue beginning at 10 a.m.  Pre-registration will be accepted until Thursday, August 1st at 4:30 p.m.  To register, please call the Office of Civic Affairs at 609-884-9565, or email recdept@capemaycity.com. Interested persons can also register in-person at the Cape May Convention Hall located at 714 Beach Ave., Cape May, NJ 08204.
