Gloucester County Senior Corp/RSVP Names Volunteer of the Year

DEPTFORD, N.J. – Freeholder Jim Jefferson, Liaison to the Division of Senior Services, recognized Mr. Robert Schultz of Thorofare as the Gloucester County Senior Corp/RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) Volunteer of the Year by during a luncheon at Auletto Catering recently.

“Mr. Schultz is a wonderful attribute to our community and we honor him and all of the volunteers who, through their service, help make our world better,” Jefferson said in a press release.

Robert Schultz has served as a volunteer for 23 years. He began with Senior Corps/RSVP in 1994 as a Serv-A-Tray volunteer bringing hot meals to senior shut-ins and isolated residents. 

Freehold Director Robert M. Damminger said how necessary volunteers like Schultz to county programs. “We would not be able to operate the Serv-A-Tray program that delivers meals to shut-ins without our volunteers.  Mr. Schultz’s volunteerism has touched the lives of many and we applaud him for his service and this recognition,” he said.

The Gloucester County Senior Corp/RSVP helps the community by delivering meals, tutoring, homework help, phoning a shut-in, teaching English, counseling, guiding a child through the court system, providing respite, visiting with the terminally ill,  visiting nursing homes, leading exercise classes, helping in a daycare, serving during a disaster, aides in the classroom, helping the disabled, to countless other service jobs.
