MILLVILLE, N.J. — If you want a fun, safe place to bring your family out into the community, look no further than the monthly Fourth Friday event that takes place in Millville.

At 6 p.m. on every fourth Friday of the month, community members gather at the Captain Joseph Buck Waterfront Park for an event that features plenty of things to do. Whether you go for the dunk tank, live music & entertainment, or plenty of great food, Fourth Fridays are the place to be in Cumberland County.

“Without the community, none of this is possible,” Wade Loatman, the event’s founder, said. “The community pulled together and made all this happen.”

The monthly event began as an idea Loatman had for bringing community members together. His idea has since come to fruition in a spectacular way, and he even works with local Millville officials to make it happen every month.

Volunteers help set up all the different things to do at the event, and local police officers even show up to add a community outreach aspect to the day.

“We want people to understand that we’re people, too, and we’re all in this together at the end of the day,” Sgt. Sean Guy of the Millville PD said. “I may be a police officer, but I live in the city, my family’s here. We do all this stuff just to be out here and do it as a community.”
