UPDATE Sept. 23, 12:20 p.m.: The date of the volleyball tournament has been postponed. The original story has been updated to reflect this.
CARNEYS POINT, N.J. — The Salem Community College (SCC) Alumni Association is sponsoring a volleyball tournament that will support a book grant fund for current SCC students.
The tournament was originally planned for Sunday, September 29 at 10 a.m. in the DuPont Field House on the SCC campus in Carneys Point, but a new date will be decided soon, according to the SCC Alumni Association. On Sept. 23, the college posted the following message on their official Facebook page:
“Due to logistical challenges, we are postponing the Alumni Association Volleyball Event. Details forthcoming.”
Each $25 donation paid to play in the tournament will support the Alumni Association’s book grant fund to help current students pay for textbooks and supplies.
“It’s volleyball for a great cause — supporting SCC students,” Anthony Oliver, event director and Alumni Association board member said in a press release. “The tournament is designed to be fun for adults of all ages and not overly competitive. All skill levels are welcome.”
Players must be at least 18 years of age on Sept. 29. Individuals may register without a team by marking “Unknown” next to “Team” on the online registration form. The tournament director will select these players for a coed team. Each team will have six players and play at least two matches.
For details, contact Anthony Oliver at (609) 420-0558 or Bill Clark at (856) 351-2602. To register, visit salemcc.edu/volleyball-tournament.
